Every Zemismart product uses one of three ways to connect: Zigbee, Matter or WiFi. This guide helps you choose, and tells you which hub you need.
The short version
| Zigbee | Matter | WiFi (Tuya) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Needs a hub? | Yes, a Zigbee hub | A Matter controller (e.g. Apple TV, HomePod mini, Nest Hub) | No |
| Main app | Tuya Smart / Smart Life | Apple Home, Google Home, SmartThings | Tuya Smart / Smart Life |
| Best for | Lots of devices, sensors, battery products | Apple and Google homes, mixing brands | One or two devices, no hub |
Zigbee
Zigbee devices talk to a hub, not your WiFi. That keeps your WiFi free and suits battery devices like sensors and blind motors. You'll need a Zigbee hub. Shop Zigbee devices.
Matter
Matter is an open standard supported by Apple, Google, Amazon and Samsung. Scan the Matter QR code in your app to add a device. Matter devices need a Matter controller on your network. Shop Matter devices.
WiFi
WiFi devices connect straight to your router and work in the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app. They're simplest for a few devices. Shop WiFi devices.
Which hub do I need?
- M1: compact Zigbee and Thread hub with Matter, for Tuya, Apple Home and Google Home.
- M1 Pro: Zigbee hub with Matter, wired or dual-band WiFi, and a built-in IR remote.
- M6: wired Ethernet Zigbee gateway with Matter and an external antenna, for larger homes.
To use a Zigbee device in Apple Home or Home Assistant, it usually needs the M6 or M1 Pro. Each product page says which hub works. Compare hubs.
