A strong Zigbee motor for large roller blinds

The Zemismart ZM25Z is a 2Nm mains-powered tubular motor for 37–38mm roller blind tubes. It lifts blinds up to 9kg and up to 2.1m wide by 4.1m drop. It connects over Zigbee 3.0, so it joins your Tuya Zigbee hub and works with the Tuya and Smart Life apps, Alexa and Google Home.

You need a Zigbee hub to use the app and voice control:

• Tuya Zigbee hub: for the Tuya and Smart Life apps, Alexa and Google Home.
• Zemismart M1 or M6 Matter hub: also brings the motor into Apple Home, SmartThings and Home Assistant through Matter.

Hubs are sold separately.

Voice control, schedules and scenes

Say "Alexa, open the blinds", or the same with Google, or with Siri through an M1 or M6 hub. Set the blinds to open at 7am and close at 1pm when the sun moves round. Build scenes, such as "Home" (unlock the door, turn on the lights and open the blinds) or "Movie" (turn on the TV, dim the lights and close the blinds).

16-channel remote with a position display

The remote's screen shows each blind's position as a percentage and the remote's battery level. Use the jog dial for precise movement, the favourite button for your preferred position, and the channel buttons to pick a blind. It controls up to 16 blinds one at a time or all together. It runs on two AAA batteries (not included).

Two speeds

While the blind is moving, press the up button again to switch between 20rpm and 30rpm.

Installation

1. Slide the motor into a 38mm tube.
2. Lock the end cap.
3. Fix the brackets to the wall or ceiling.
4. Connect the brown (live) and blue (neutral) wires to the mains.

The mains connection must be made by a qualified electrician.

Pairing

To pair with your hub, hold the setting button on the motor for 6 seconds until the blind jogs twice and the light flashes orange, then blue. In the Tuya app, open your Zigbee hub, tap "Add subdevice" and follow the prompts. You can also put it into pairing mode from the 16-channel remote.

To pair the remote, hold the motor's setting button for 2 seconds (the blind jogs), then press PRG on the back of the remote within 5 seconds. The blind jogs again when it's paired.

For heavy blinds up to 10kg on a 38mm tube, with Matter and Apple Home, the ZM25C. For heavy blinds up to 10kg with Tuya and no hub, the ZM25TQ. For heavy blinds up to 10kg on Zigbee with a simple remote, the ZM25TQ Zigbee. For very large blinds up to 2.1m × 4.1m on Zigbee, with two speeds and a 16-channel remote, the ZM25Z (up to 9kg). For lighter blinds up to 4kg with Tuya and no hub, the ZM25R2 (mains powered). For a rechargeable motor with no wiring, the ZM25WB (WiFi, up to 4kg) or the ZM25EL (Zigbee, with a solar option).
