A smart switch for UK homes with no neutral at the switch

Many UK homes, especially older ones, only have a live and a switched live at the light switch, with no neutral. Most smart switches need a neutral, so they won’t work there without rewiring. The Zemismart 606EU-Z is built for exactly that: it runs on the live wire alone and fits a standard UK 86mm back box, so it can replace an ordinary light switch.

It has big physical push buttons with no frame, an LED indicator on each key, and connects to the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app through a Tuya Zigbee hub. Choose 1, 2 or 3 gangs.

Have a neutral? See the K6 grey aluminium Zigbee switch. Want a touch switch with name screens (neutral required)? See the ZMS-206EU.

Why choose the 606EU-Z

  • No neutral wire needed. Live and switched live (light) wires only.
  • UK 86mm size with 60mm fixing centres.
  • Big push buttons, easy for children and older family members to use.
  • LED indicator to find the switch in the dark.
  • App control from anywhere in the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app.
  • Schedules and timers.
  • Alexa and Google Assistant voice control.
  • Frameless design that suits most interiors.

You will need a Tuya Zigbee hub

The 606EU-Z is a Zigbee switch, so it needs a Tuya-compatible Zigbee hub (sold separately), such as the Zemismart M1 Pro, M1 or M6. With an M1 or M6 hub it can also be shown in Apple Home.

App and voice control

Turn lights on and off from your phone, set schedules, and link the Tuya or Smart Life app to Alexa or Google Home for voice control.

LED indicator

A soft LED on each key makes the switch easy to find at night, and flashes to show when the switch is ready to pair.

Wiring

Connect the incoming live to L, and each light’s switched live to L1, L2 or L3. No neutral is used at the switch.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if I have a neutral at my switch?

With the power off, look in the back box. If only the live and switched live are connected to the switch and there’s no separate neutral, this is the version you need. Wire colours vary in older homes, so if in doubt, ask an electrician.

Will it fit my UK back box?

The plate is 86 × 86mm with 60mm fixing centres, the same as a standard UK single switch. The module is about 27mm deep, so a 25mm box may be too shallow. A 35mm box is recommended.

Will it work with LED bulbs?

No-neutral switches need a small current through the bulb to stay powered, so very low-wattage LED bulbs may flicker or glow faintly when off. Test with your bulbs first, and contact us before buying if you plan to use very low-wattage LEDs.

Does it need a hub?

Yes, a Tuya Zigbee hub such as the Zemismart M1 Pro, M1 or M6.

Will it work in the US?

No. This switch only works on 220–240V.

Can I fit it myself?

In the UK, mains wiring should be done by a qualified electrician and must comply with Part P of the Building Regulations.
