The Zemismart ZMCIR01 turns an ordinary air conditioner with an infrared remote into a smart one. It learns your AC remote's signals, then lets you control the unit from your phone, by voice, or automatically based on the room temperature. A clear screen shows the temperature and humidity at a glance. It uses Matter over WiFi, so it works with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, Homey and Home Assistant.
Please note: this controls air conditioners (including air-to-air heat pumps) that use an infrared remote. It doesn't control boilers, radiators or central heating.
Control your air conditioner from anywhere
Add your AC in the Tuya app using Quick Match, which picks your brand's remote from a built-in library, or Learn Match, which learns the buttons from your existing remote. You can then switch it on and off, set the temperature, and change the mode and fan speed from your phone, wherever you are.
Automatic temperature control
Set rules based on the room temperature, for example air con on above 26°C and off below 24°C. Because it only runs when needed, you avoid cooling an empty or already-cool room, which helps cut wasted electricity.
Turn the air con off when the room empties: pair it with the ZPS-Z1 presence sensor.
See the temperature and humidity at a glance
The 1.8-inch screen shows the current temperature and humidity, plus a comfort face that tells you whether the room feels just right. Readings also appear in your app, so you can check on the house while you're out.
- Temperature: -10 to 60°C, accurate to ±0.3°C (between 10 and 50°C)
- Humidity: 0–99.9% RH, accurate to ±4% (between 20 and 80% RH)
External sensor for more accurate readings
The temperature and humidity sensor sits on the USB-C power cable, away from the warmth of the electronics, so readings are steadier and more accurate.
Use the supplied cable: with any other USB-C cable the readings show "0".
Point it at your air con
The magnetic base lets you swivel and tilt the controller. Infrared needs a clear line of sight, so the screen should face the air conditioner.
Matter: works with the smart home you already have
Set the controller up in the Tuya app, then share it to up to 5 Matter platforms at once, such as Apple Home and Alexa together.
You'll need a Matter controller on the same home network, for example:
- an Apple HomePod mini, HomePod or Apple TV 4K
- an Amazon Echo (4th gen), Echo Hub or Echo Show
- a Google Nest Hub or Nest Hub Max
- a SmartThings Station or hub

Setting up
- Power it on, then hold the reset button for 7 seconds until the WiFi icon flashes.
- Add it in the Tuya app.
- To use another platform, tap Share Device, then Share over Matter, and copy the setup code.
- Enter the code in Apple Home or your chosen app.

Frequently asked questions
Will it control my central heating or boiler?
No. It only controls air conditioners and air-to-air heat pumps that use an infrared remote.
Will it work with my air conditioner?
If your air con uses an infrared remote, look for your brand in the Quick Match library. If it isn't listed, Learn Match can copy the buttons from your remote.
Does it need a hub?
It connects over WiFi and works in the Tuya app without a hub. To use Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home or SmartThings, you need a Matter controller such as a HomePod mini, Echo (4th gen) or Nest Hub.
Does it run on batteries?
No. It's powered through the supplied USB-C cable, which also carries the temperature sensor.
Can I use my own USB-C cable?
You can power it, but the readings will show "0" because the sensor is built into the supplied cable.
Does it need to see the air conditioner?
Yes. Infrared needs a clear line of sight, so place it in the same room with the screen facing the unit.
