A rechargeable Matter motor for small roller blinds

The Zemismart MT15B is a slim battery-powered motor that fits inside the tube of most small roller blinds. Slide it into a 17mm, 20mm, 25mm or 28mm tube and refit the blind. There's no wiring and no plug socket. Because it uses Matter over Thread, it works directly with Apple Home, Google Home and SmartThings, with no Zigbee hub.

Works with Apple Home, Google Home and SmartThings

Add the MT15B to the smart home app you already use and control it alongside everything else. You need a Thread border router that's also a Matter controller. You may already own one:

• Apple: Apple TV 4K (2nd gen, or 3rd gen 128GB), HomePod (2nd gen), HomePod mini
• Google: Nest Hub (2nd gen), Nest Hub Max, Nest Wifi, Nest Wifi Pro
• SmartThings: SmartThings Hub v3 (Aeotec), SmartThings Hub v4, SmartThings Station

Voice control and schedules

Say "Hey Siri, open the blinds", "Hey Google, close the blinds" or "Hi Bixby, open the blinds to 50%". Set schedules in your app, for example open to 70% at 8am.

Choose your remote

• 1-channel wall remote: open, stop and close, plus a favourite button (one press for 25%, two presses for 50%, a long press for 75%). Runs on a CR2450 coin battery.
• 16-channel remote: controls up to 16 blinds, with a screen and jog dial. Runs on AAA batteries.

Batteries aren't included, for transport safety. You need a remote to set the blind's stopping points.

Will it fit my blind?

• Tube: 17mm, 20mm, 25mm or 28mm round aluminium tube.
• Weight: blinds up to about 2kg.

The motor comes fitted for a 28mm tube. Swap the adapters in the box for smaller tubes. The guides below show the parts and steps.

Quick setup

1. Hold the setting button on the motor for 6 seconds. The orange light blinks twice, then the blue light blinks.
2. Turn on WiFi and Bluetooth on your phone.
3. Open Apple Home, Google Home or SmartThings and choose to add a device.
4. Scan the Matter QR code on the motor and follow the prompts.

To pair the 1-channel remote, hold the motor's setting button for 2 seconds, then press Up and Down together within 10 seconds. For the 16-channel remote, choose a channel with "+", then press PRG within 10 seconds.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a hub?

You need a Thread border router that's a Matter controller, such as a HomePod mini, Apple TV 4K, Nest Hub (2nd gen) or SmartThings Station. No Zigbee hub is needed.

Do I need an electrician?

No. It's battery powered, so there's no wiring.

Do I need the remote?

Yes, to set the stopping points. Choose a version with a remote unless you already have one.

Will it fit my blind?

It fits round 17, 20, 25 and 28mm tubes, on blinds up to about 2kg.

MT15B or ZM15B?

Both are small battery motors. Choose the MT15B for Matter and Apple Home without a Zigbee hub. Choose the ZM15B if you already use a Tuya Zigbee hub.

Which motor should I choose?

For heavy blinds up to 10kg on a 38mm tube, with Matter and Apple Home, the ZM25C. For heavy blinds up to 10kg with Tuya and no hub, the ZM25TQ. For heavy blinds up to 10kg on Zigbee with a simple remote, the ZM25TQ Zigbee. For very large blinds up to 2.1m × 4.1m on Zigbee, with two speeds and a 16-channel remote, the ZM25Z (up to 9kg). For lighter blinds up to 4kg with Tuya and no hub, the ZM25R2 (mains powered). For a rechargeable motor with no wiring, the ZM25WB (WiFi, up to 4kg) or the ZM25EL (Zigbee, with a solar option). For 30mm tubes, the ZM25RW01. For small 17–28mm tubes, the ZM16A (plug-in, Matter), the MT15B (rechargeable, Matter over Thread), the ZM15B (rechargeable, Zigbee) or the ZM16B (rechargeable with a solar option, Zigbee).
