The Zemismart ZML1 RGB is a colour changing smart downlight that connects over WiFi using Matter. That means it works with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings, and you don't have to pick just one. Choose from 16 million colours or any white from warm 2700K to cool 6500K, dim it to suit the moment, and control it by app, voice or schedule.

Only need white light? The ZML1 CW is the white-only version. Already have a Zigbee hub? See the Zigbee colour downlight.

16 million colours, plus every shade of white

Use a warm white for everyday living, a cool white for the kitchen, or switch to colour for a party, a film night or a soft night-light. Brightness, colour and saturation can all be adjusted.

One light, every smart home app

Matter lets the downlight work with several apps at once. Scan the QR code on the driver with Apple Home, Alexa, Google Home or SmartThings to add it. You'll need a Matter controller on your home network, for example:

  • an Apple HomePod or Apple TV
  • a Google Nest speaker or display
  • a Matter-compatible Amazon Echo
  • a SmartThings hub

Works with any Matter app, set up by scanning the QR code

How to connect in Apple Home and Alexa

Voice control

Say "Hey Siri, turn the living room lights purple", "Alexa, dim the downlights to 20%" or "Hey Google, set the kitchen to warm white".

App control and schedules

Control every downlight in the house from your phone, group them by room, and set schedules: warm light on at 6pm, everything off at bedtime.

Driver, heat sink and reset button

  • Separate isolated driver: gives a constant current and keeps the operating temperature stable.
  • Aluminium body and heat sink: draws heat away from the LEDs.
  • Reset button on the driver: a one-click factory reset if you need to re-pair it.

Installation

Cut a hole of the right size, connect the driver to the lighting circuit and plug in the light. Then fold up the spring clips and push it into the ceiling. Always switch off the power before fitting or removing the light.

This is a mains-wired light fitting. In the UK it must be installed by a qualified electrician.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a hub?

Not a Zigbee hub, but you do need a Matter controller, such as an Apple HomePod or Apple TV, a Google Nest speaker or display, a Matter-compatible Echo, or a SmartThings hub.

Can I use it in more than one app?

Yes. Matter lets you add it to, for example, Apple Home and Alexa at the same time.

What's the difference from the ZML1 CW?

The CW version does white light only (2700–6500K). This RGB version adds 16 million colours.

Can I use it with a dimmer switch?

No. Leave the wall switch on and dim it from the app or by voice.

Does it need an electrician?

Yes. It's a mains-wired ceiling light, so it should be installed by a qualified electrician.
